Happy New Year! At midnight, a big group of friends ran with us outside, around the new house, banging pots and pans with wooden spoons, and whooping and hollering. It felt good. I can only hope your 2012 was rung in as exuberantly. I’m hanging out over with Kelsey of the blog Happyolks with a recipe for goat cheese toasts with yellow split pea spread this week, with some thoughts about gathering. Go check it out, if you’re so inclined.

Happy New Year to you! I smiled imagining you all running around the house, beating on kitchenware.
I wish I could have joined you in the merrymaking.
Here’s to a lot more merrymaking in 2012.
:) Thanks, Tea. And the flu? Hope you’re better soon.
Just discovered your gorgeous blog via Happy Yolks and will definitely be back for more :-) Happy New Year!
Thanks, all!
I came here via Happy Yolks, too, and I have to say, that I adore your writing and pictures!
I wish you a happy new year, and safe travels.
I’m here via Happy Yolks, and I’ll certainly be back. What a lovely blog, and I love your tomato drawing up in the corner. I rung in the New Year in DC too, but now I’m back in Boston!
I can’t say that scripture usually pops into my head when looking for recipes, but this is so analogous to the Bible story of Martha and Mary, I just can’t help myself: “Martha, Martha,” the Lord answered, “you are worried and upset about many things, but few things are needed—or indeed only one.” I think we get distracted and forget that hosting these things is as much about nourishing with love as it is about nourishing with food. Although, absent the first, I think I might still be content with those sunny little toasts :)
